Healthy Recipe: Peanut Butter Protein Snack

Healthy Recipe: Peanut Butter Protein Snack

If you’re looking to loose that belly fat, and build muscle – you need food that helps you accomplish both. That means foods that not only help you build muscle, but also don’t pack on extra fat!

But – a healthy diet also means healthy snacks! This recipe is from Men’s Health – their nutrition advisor, Michael Roussell, Ph.D. has come up with a great recipe for a Peanut Butter Protein Snack. This recipe is packed with casein, a protein found in dairy products. Why is that important? Well, casein is full of casomorphins – which are chemicals that help you relax and sleep. And, casein protein is also great for helping you build muscle! There has been a recent Dutch study, showing that having a source of caesin prior to going to bed increased study participants protein synthesis through the night. Since your muscles need protein to rebuild – consider trying this recipe before bedtime to help your muscles recover and grow the evening after a hard workout.

Here’s the best part. If you like peanut butter cups – it tastes just like one! And although the recipe calls for cottage cheese – once you blend the cheese into the mix, you’ll never taste it!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cottage cheese
  • 1/2 scoop chocolate casein protein powder
  • 1 Tbsp natural peanut butter
  • 1 Tbsp PB2* (Powereded Peanut Butter)
  • 2 tsp splenda (optional)

*PB2 Powered Peanut Butter can be found at online retailers such as Walmart, Target or Amazon

Directions:

In a food processor, blend all ingredients.
