Why Regular Exercise Is Good For Your Brain

True M30 Treadmill

According to a new study from Columbia University and the University of Miami, regular exercise can help keep your brain young! The reason for the study is that researchers, including the author of the study, Clinton Wright, M.D., have found that after the age of 30, some mental skills start to decline.

According to the study, the researchers looked at people over the age of 40, and asked about their exercise habits at that age. They then tested their cognitive abilities – then went back 5 years later and tested tehir brain’s congitive abilities a second time to see what impact exercise may or may not have had on their brains.

The study discovered that if you do moderate-to-more-intense workouts, such as running, cycling or swimming, you may experience much less of a decline in your cognitive skills over five years than if you are sedentary. In other words, you can think faster, and remember more. Over your lifetime, it can have the same effect as turning your clock back almost 10 years!

The researchers think that exercise increases blood flow to the brain. Blood delivers oxygen and nutrients, while removing toxins – and exercise increases the rate that this happens, which can also help fight hypertension, inflammation, and even diabetes!

So – if youi’re not exercising now, start! Get moving, get your heart rate up – do that cardio on a regular basis – your brain will thank you!
