I am not in the habit of asking favors, but there has been a tragic accident which has prompted me to write this very personal note to ask for your help.
My close friend Jerry Irion and his family are going through an incredibly hard time right now and they need help. Shari (Jerry’s wife) & her friend Carrie Brown were hit by a vehicle while jogging April 20th. Carrie was killed and Shari is fighting for her life. You may have seen it in the news.
Shari is in Intensive Care in critical condition with extensive physical injuries including a brain injury. Shari’s road ahead, as well her family’s, is going to be long and extremely challenging. Their oldest daughter Kelly is doing periodic Facebook updates to let people know how Shari is doing and friends from all over are doing anything and everything they can to help support them.

Shari and the entire Irion family are amazing people who I am truly blessed to call my friends. They have impacted so many lives in a positive way. The Irion’s have a true zest for life and unbelievable compassion for others.
With Jerry taking leave from his teaching position to be with Shari full time they will have no measurable income for an extended period and with medical bills coming in, monthly living expenses, and kids in college, the bills are mounting. The Irion’s have always given to others in need, and now they need help.
Friends, neighbors, acquaintances, and even total strangers have been contributing in every conceivable way. It’s quite incredible to see the outpouring of love and kindness coming in from all directions. There have been yard sales, car washes, organized runs and workouts, prayer meetings and even their students (both Shari & Jerry are teachers) are raising funds for them at school.
There is a You Caring fund in place, so if you are in any position to help please follow the link below to contribute any amount you can, big or small. I would be grateful beyond words. I know it’s a lot to ask you to help a total stranger but if there was ever a family that deserved help, its this family.

If you can’t help financially, that’s okay. Your positive thoughts and prayers are just as important (if not even more so) and are greatly appreciated by myself and the Irion family.
