Healthier Holiday Eggnog

Nothing says “holidays” like eggnog. But, the classic recipe for eggnog is not only a bit fattening, but some people get a little grossed out thinking of guzzling eggs, cream, sugar, and liquor – and that’s assuming that you actually know what’s in eggnog! So, if you’re looking for a healthier, dairy-free, alternative recipe for holiday eggnog, try this one!

Heallthier Holiday Eggnog

  • 6 large eggs*, separated
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • A pinch of kosher salt
  • 3 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • Whole nutmeg and cinnamon stick (for serving)
  • 2 teaspoon pure gluten-free vanilla extract

Preparation

=Whisk egg yolks, sugar, and salt in a large punch bowl just until sugar is dissolved, then whisk in almond milk and cream. Cover and chill egg nog base at least 2 hours. Just before serving, using an electric mixer, beat egg whites in a medium bowl until stiff peaks form. Gently fold into egg nog base. Finely grate nutmeg and cinnamon over as desired. Serves 12.
