Enjoying Thanksgiving While On a Diet

With the Thanksgiving Holiday approaching in a few weeks, we’re also at that time of year where we all try to avoid putting on extra pounds, while still enjoying the holiday season. Here’s some ways to enjoy Thanksgiving while on a diet.

Prepare Stuff In Advance – If you’re spending the holiday’s at someone else’s house, it’s common to bring a dish. Buy or prepare something that fits within your diet. This way, you can make sure there is definitely something to eat that won’t break your diet plans.

Let Your Host Know About Your Diet – You can always let your host know that you’re on a diet – they can ask other attendees to bring dishes that may be a bit healthier. It can help everybody enjoy the holiday without putting on extra pounds!

Don’t Be Afraid to Say No – You can still enjoy Thanksgiving while on a diet by only choosing those foods that work with your diet plan. There’s nothing wrong with saying “no” to specific foods by simply saying “No, Thanks” – and you don’t have to give a reason.

Increase Physical Activity – The simple rule is, if you take in more calories than you burn, you’ll gain weight. And, going through Thanksgiving while on a diet doesn’t always mean you can avoid a few extra calories. So, burn them off by scheduling either extra workouts, or spending an extra 10-15 minutes on your workouts.

Change Your focus – Thanksgiving should be about family and friends, not food and fat. Focus on spending quality time together, celebrate, and enjoy the holiday!
