Best Ways to Keep Motivated During the Holidays

The holidays get quite busy for all of us – and it’s easy to slack off your workouts during this time. But, slacking off over the holidays can diminish all of your progress. Learn how to keep motivated and stay in shape while still enjoying the holiday season

Plan Your Training

Like pretty much everything else in life, “fail to plan – plan to fail!”. If you’re having a difficult time squeezing in a workout, plan not only a time you know you can fit it into your schedule, but also plan out what you’re going to do during your workout. Not only does this make it harder to avoid your workout, your workouts will be more productive as well, as you’ll know you’re fitting in your best workouts for the time allotted.

Get Up Early and Go!

Usually during this time of year, stuff at work seem to die down a bit, but family commitments go up. So, take advantage of early mornings – get your workout done before everybody else is out of bed! This can help to ensure you not only get your workout in, but also have time for all the other things you need to do with work & family.

Add a Partner to Your Workouts

It’s easy to make excuses as to why you shouldn’t workout. It’s harder when someone else is expecting you to show up. Find a partner and make a pact to keep each other motivated. And, it’s easier to deal with cold morning workouts if you have someone to work out with!

Bodyweight Workouts

Can’t make it to the gym? You can still get a great workout using your own bodyweight. Bodyweight workouts can be done anywhere using little to no equipment and usually take 20 minutes or less. One way you can do a bodyweight workout is to see how many times you can do 10 Burpees, 20 Mountain climbers, 30 Jumping Jacks, 40 Reps jumping rope, 30 Jump squats, 20 Push-ups and 10 Reverse lunges – all within 20 minutes! Or, pick up a TRX Suspension Trainer – you can get a great bodyweight workout, and if your traveling during the holidays, you can pack it up and take it with you!

Break Up Your Workouts

Finding an hour for a workout may not always be possible. So, try do fit in small, shorter workouts throughout the day.

Keeping your workouts going during the holidays is far easier than you think. And, it’s even easier to keep motivated if you have workout equipment in your home!
