Weight Loss Tips For The New Year

Weight Loss Tips For The New Year

So you made a New Year’s resolution to loose weight. Unfortunately, it’s all too common that we may have the best intentions, but most resolutions are abandoned within a month or so of the new year. Here’s some weight loss tips that you can stick to!

Set the Right Goals
Without a goal to shoot for, it’s almost impossible to hit it. And, having a certain weight as a goal is a bit too vague as well. Instead, set goals like “increased stamina”, “better sleep”, or “more energy” that come from regular workouts – these are goals you can feel, and as you feel more success, you’ll be more likely to stay motivated.

Shoot for Consistancy
One bad meal won’t kill your weight loss goals. But finding excuses to keep eating poorly after one bad meal is counterproductive to hitting your goals. Choosing healthy options the majority of the time, with a few cheats here and there, is more sustainable than an “all or nothing” mentality.

Progress is more than Weight Loss
Muscle takes up less space than fat, and adding muscle will also speed up your metabolism – and your ability to burn fat. Your goal should be fat loss – rather than weight loss. If your clothes fit better, your body is trimmer, you have more energy, and your weight doesn’t change, that’s fine. Becoming healthier is a better goal than simple weight loss!

Don’t Overdo It!
You need energy to accomplish your workouts – so restricting calories can be counter productive. And overdoing it at the gym can leave you too tired to enjoy the rest of your life as well! As much as you might want to loose those extra pounds immediately, keep in mind that you didn’t add those pounds overnight either. Loosing 1-2 lbs per week is a healthy goal to shoot for.
