Should You Buy A Used Treadmill?

Purchasing a treadmill is truly an investment in your health. Unfortunately, some people make that initial investment, then give up on it, and their treadmill turns into another “coat hanger” that gets buried in the corner of a spare room or garage. Eventually, those that don’t want that “investment” any more may look to try to get some sort of return on their investment by selling their old treadmill on places like Craigslist – which many think creates a great value for getting their own treadmill, rather than buying a new one.

Advantages & Disadvantages of a used treadmill

There are some advantages to buying a used treadmill. At least initially, you’ll spend far less money on a used treadmill than you would a new one. But here’s the problem. Let’s say you find an older treadmill – say, at a garage sale, second hand store, pawn shop, or off of Craigslist. Is the treadmill still covered under the initial warranty? Why is the owner selling it -is it just because they don’t use it, or is it because there’s some problem with it that needs to be fixed?

Another problem is what is the overall condition of the treadmill? Think about cars that come from ocean areas or areas where salt is used to de-ice roads. You would worry about buying a car that might have rust or corrosion issues because of the environment they were used in. The same holds true for a treadmill. What is sweat? It’s salt water! And, if the owner didn’t wipe down the treadmill after they used it, over time, their sweat could have started to corrode the treadmill, causing long-term maintenance issues that may negate the savings you got by buying a used treadmill.

But what if you still want to save with a used treadmill?

Here at Fitness 4 Home Superstore, we occasionally have used treadmills for sale. And, with any used treadmill we put up for sale, we’ve gone through and made any necessary repairs to make sure the treadmill is in the best condition for sale.
